Sam Claflin In Talks For 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'

7/18/2012 12:44 PM ET

"Snow White and the Huntsman" star Sam Claflin is reportedly in talks for the role of Finnick Odair in the "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The 26-year-old has been linked to the role by Variety, although there has been no official word from Lionsgate or Claflin's reps.

If he does sign on for the role he will join a growing cast which includes Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, the newly appointed game-maker.

The second film picks up one year after the conclusion of the "Hunger Games" and centers on winners Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark as they navigate the political world behind the games. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their leading roles for the film.

"Catching Fire" is based on Suzanne Collins' hit book series, also titled "The Hunger Games," which takes place in a dystopian future in which children are forced to compete in a life and death survival contest.
