'Finding Nemo' Director Signs On For Sequel

"Finding Nemo" director Andrew Stanton has signed on to direct the sequel to Pixar's animated underwater adventure.

Stanton, who has won two Oscars for "Finding Nemo" and "Wall-E," will be hoping to rebound from the massive flop that was "John Carter," his live action debut for Disney.

Victoria Strouse is on scripting duties, with the sequel receiving a tentative release date of 2016. The original "Finding Nemo" will be re-released later this year in 3D.

The 2003 film is Pixar's second highest grossing film and is among several sequels that the animated film company has recently greenlit. Other popular Pixar films to get the sequel treatment recently include "Toy Story," "Cars," and "Monsters Inc." This represents a departure for Pixar who has generally shied away from sequels, but have obviously changed their stance on the matter.
