Internet giant Google Inc. (GOOG: Quote) is expected to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to earn $10.05 per share on revenues of $8.41 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $8.74 per share on revenues of $6.92 billion. The shares closed Wednesday at $580.76. Microsoft Corp. (MSFT: Quote) is due to post fourth-quarter results. The software maker is expected to record earnings of $0.62 per share compared to $0.69 per share last year, on revenues of $18.11 billion. Shares of MSFT closed Wednesday's trade at $30.45. (The stock declined nearly 5% in Q4; MA(50)- $29.80; MA(100)- $30.80; 52-wk H/L $32.95/$23.79)

Morgan Stanley (MS: Quote) is slated to report results for the second quarter. The investment banking giant is expected to report a profit of $0.43 per share versus loss of $0.38 per share last year, with revenues estimated at $7.70 billion. The stock closed Wednesday at $13.99. (The plunged almost 25% in Q2; MA(50)- $13.91; MA(100)- $16.15; 52-wk H/L $24.46/$11.58)

Property insurer Travelers Companies, Inc. (TRV: Quote) will report second-quarter results today. The company is expected to earn $1.38 per share compared to the loss of $0.91 per share a year ago, while quarterly revenues are anticipated to rise to $5.98 billion from last year's $5.82 billion. The company's shares closed Wednesday's session at $64.00. (The stock up about 9% in Q2; MA(50)- $62.90; MA(100)- $61.41; 52-wk H/L $65.27/$45.97)

Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV: Quote) is scheduled to report second-quarter results. The low-cost airline operator is expected to post earnings of $0.33 per share, higher than the year-ago quarter's $0.15 per share. Also, the company is anticipated to generate revenues of $4.58 billion, up from $4.14 billion generated a year ago. The company's shares closed Wednesday's session at $9.42. Unitedhealth Group, Inc. (UNH: Quote) is due to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to record a profit of $1.19 per share on revenues of $27.34 billion. Last year, the healthcare benefits company earned $1.16 per share on revenues of $25.23 billion. The company's shares closed Wednesday's trade at $56.35. Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ: Quote) is scheduled to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to post earnings of $0.64 per share, up from $0.57 per share reported a year earlier, on revenues of $28.56 billion. The shares closed Wednesday at $45.89. Mobile handset maker Finland-based Nokia Corp. (NOK: Quote) is expected to post second-quarter results. Last year, the company reported loss of 0.10 euros. The fifth consecutive monthly increase in the U.K. house prices amid limited supply took average asking prices to a record, a survey by Rightmove showed Monday. House prices hit a record GBP 249,841 in May, as new sellers raised their prices by 2.1 percent from the prior month. Prices were up by the same magniture in April. The Japanese government on Monday upgraded its assessment of the economy for the first time in two months, as a weak yen helped revive the country's exports and factory output. "The Japanese economy is picking up slowly," the Cabinet Office said in its May monthly report. This was an upgrade from previous month's assessment when it said that economy was showing signs of picking up. Stocks moved sharply higher over the course of the trading day on Friday, more than offsetting the weakness seen on Thursday. In a reversal from the previous session, the markets benefited from some upbeat U.S. economic data as well as comments from a Federal Reserve official. The major averages saw further upside going into the close, with the Dow and the S&P 500 reaching new record highs.
