Finland's parliament approved a Eurozone-sponsored rescue deal for Spanish banks and the collateral deal struck by the country with Spain, during a confidence vote on Friday.
While 109 lawmakers voted in favor, 73 opposed the motion and 17 were absent. The opposition parties raised strong criticism against the bailout package.
Earlier this week, Finland struck a deal with Spain to receive collateral in exchange for loans to the troubled country. It is agreed that the collateral will be 40 percent of Finland's contribution to the proposed EUR 100 billion rescue deal, which totals nearly EUR 1.9 billion.
