Kenneth Branagh, who has already been named as the director of the "Jack Ryan" movie, is now in talks to play the film's villain, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Chris Pine has been pegged in the Ryan role, the ex-Marine turned financial analyst from creator Tom Clancy.
In the new film, Ryan uncovers a terrorist plot, while living in Moscow. Branagh's character would be that of an evil Russian attempting to wreck America's economy.
Branagh currently has a host of other projects in development including an adaptation of Henning Mankell's "Italian Shoes" with Anthony Hopkins and Judi Dench, "The Guernsey Liteary And Potato Peel Pie Society" with Kate Winslet and an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth."
Branagh last appeared on screen in "My Week With Marylin."
