A rare edition of the Beatles first album, Introducing . . . the Beatles, has sold for nearly $15,000 at auction.
The LP was put up for sale at eBay.com, and a private collector paid big for the rare record, with a winning final bid of nearly $14,999 last week.
"THIS IS, WITHOUT QUESTION, AMONG THE RAREST OF ALL COMMERCIALLY ISSUED BEATLES ALBUMS MADE IN THE U.S.A.. AND IT IS THE VERY FIRST ISSUE OF THIS HISTORIC ALBUM! IT IS ALSO ONE OF THE VERY BEST CONDITION EXAMPLE KNOWN TO EXIST!" read the sellers description.
The album featured classic Beatles tracks such as "Twist and Shout" and their debut single "Love Me Do."
The album, the release of which was delayed to early 1964 because of legal wranglings, came out just ten days prior to their second album, Meet the Beatles.
