Colony Bankcorp Q2 Profit Rises

Colony Bankcorp, Inc. (CBAN: Quote) reported second-quarter net income available to common shareholders of $0.4 million or $0.05 per share, up from $0.2 million or $0.02 per share in the year-ago comparable quarter.

Net interest income for the latest quarter rose to $9.1 million from $8.6 million in the same period last year, while non-interest income for the quarter declined to $2.4 million from $2.7 million a year ago.

Net interest margin for the quarter was 3.39 percent, compared to 2.97 percent last year. Provision for loan losses decreased to $1.9 million from $2.3 million last year.

China May Leading Index Signals Weaker Economic Growth Ahead

A leading indicator of Chinese economic activity rose marginally in May and at a slower pace than a month earlier, suggesting more sluggish growth for the overall economy in the months ahead. In an apparent backlash from the numerous scandals facing the administration, the results of a new CNN/ORC International survey released Monday showed a sharp drop in President Barack Obama's approval rating. The poll found that 45 percent of Americans approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president, down from 53 percent in a poll conducted last month.
