Cigarette maker Altria Group Inc. (MO: Quote) is expected to report results for the first quarter. The company is expected to earn $0.57 per share on revenues of $4.48 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $0.54 per share on revenues of $4 billion. The shares closed Monday at $35.49. Apple Inc. (AAPL: Quote) is due to post third-quarter results. The company is expected to record earnings of $10.36 per share compared to $7.79 per share last year, on revenues of $37.18 billion. E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. (DD: Quote) is scheduled to report second-quarter results. The chemicals giant is expected to post earnings of $1.46 per share, higher than the year-ago quarter's $1.37 per share. Also, the company is anticipated to generate revenues of $11.27 billion compared to $10.26 billion in the prior-year quarter. The company's shares closed Monday's session at $48.71. Telecommunications giant AT&T, Inc. (T: Quote) is slated to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to report a profit of $0.63 per share versus $0.60 per share last year, on revenues of $31.70 billion. The stock closed Monday at $35.38. Netflix, Inc. (NFLX: Quote) is expected to post second-quarter results. The company, which provides online and mail-order video service, is expected to earn $0.05 per share compared to $1.26 per share earned a year ago, with revenues estimated at $888.90 million. The company's shares closed Monday's regular trading at $79.94. (The stock plunged almost 40% in Q2; MA(50)- $71.80; MA(100)- $86.99; 52-wk H/L $274/$60.70)

United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS: Quote) will report second-quarter results today. Earnings of the world's largest package delivery company are expected to increase to $1.17 per share from $1.07 per share reported a year earlier, while quarterly revenues are anticipated to rise to $13.70 billion from last year's $13.19 billion. The company's shares closed Monday's session at $77.95. (The stock down about 2% in Q2; MA(50)- $76.88; MA(100)- $77.86; 52-wk H/L $81.79/$60.74)

Home appliances maker Whirlpool Corp. (WHR: Quote) is scheduled to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to post earnings of $1.64 per share, a decline from $2.76 per share reported a year ago, on revenues of $4.63 billion. The shares closed Monday at $67.31. Norfolk Southern Corp. (NSC: Quote) is expected to report results for the second quarter. The railroad transporter is expected to earn $1.53 per share on revenues of $2.95 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $1.38 per share on revenues of $2.87 billion. The shares closed Monday at $72.19. Stocks moved sharply higher over the course of the trading day on Friday, more than offsetting the weakness seen on Thursday. In a reversal from the previous session, the markets benefited from some upbeat U.S. economic data as well as comments from a Federal Reserve official. The major averages saw further upside going into the close, with the Dow and the S&P 500 reaching new record highs. As the IRS targeting scandal continues to make headlines, animal-protection charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, claims that conservative groups are not the only ones that have faced increased scrutiny from the agency. While the IRS targeting scandal has taken center stage on Capitol Hill on Friday, the results of a new Gallup poll showed that the American public's interest in the story is comparatively low based on historical measures. The poll showed that 54 percent of Americans are following the news that the IRS targeted conservative groups for greater scrutiny "very" or "somewhat" closely.
