Microsoft Corp. (MSFT: Quote) Tuesday said it has signed a patent cross-license agreement with Amdocs Software Systems Ltd., thereby providing mutual access to each company's patent portfolio.

The agreement will also allow Amdocs to use Linux-based servers in Microsoft's data centers.

The agreement adds to more than a 1,100 patent agreements signed by Microsoft in the past decade.

The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.

Mailbox Now Comes To IPad

The popular e-mail management app Mailbox, developed by Orchestra Inc., has been updated to be compatible with Apple's iPad. Orchestra disclosed the news of the update through its official blog. "You asked, we listened. Mailbox is now available for iPad, so you can swipe your way to inbox zero on all your iOS devices," Orchestra's brief blog read.
