Bruce Springsteen popped up in Norway over the weekend (July 22) to play a memorial concert marking the one year anniversary of the shooting and bombing carried out by Anders Behring Breivik.
Breivik killed eight in the bombing of a government building and another 69 when he opened fire on a Labour Party youth camp.
Addressing the crowd of 60,000, Springsteen honored the victims of last July's attack:
"Steve [van Zandt] and I are honored to be included here tonight. For all of us who love democracy and tolerance, it's an international tragedy."
Breivik's trial has finished and he is currently awaiting sentencing. The verdict, which is pending on whether he will be sent to a psychiatric ward or prison based on his sanity, is expected August 12.
