Apple Inc. (AAPL: Quote) reported third quarter EPS of $9.32 after the bell Tuesday, up from $7.79 in the prior year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $10.36. Revenues rose to $35.02 billion, from $28.57 billion last year. The consensus estimate was for revenues of $37.18 billion.
The company expects to report fourth quarter revenues of about $34 billion and EPS of about $7.65. The consensus estimates are for revenues of $38.00 billion and EPS of $10.22.
Apple retreated a bit around midday Tuesday and finished down by 2.91 at $600.92. The stock closed near the middle of a 3-week range. Apple is now down 29.36 on 2.2 million shares after the bell.
