Thai Exports Fall Unexpectedly In June

7/25/2012 3:38 AM ET

Thailand exports declined 2.5 percent in June from a year ago, following a 7.7 percent rise in May, the Ministry of Commerce reported Wednesday. Economists were forecasting 4.5 percent growth for June.

At the same time, imports grew 4.4 percent annually. But the growth rate eased from 18.2 percent and well below the 13.5 percent expansion forecast by economists.

The trade trade deficit narrowed to $550 million from $1.74 billion in May.
