Swedish Unemployment Remains Unchanged In June

Unemployment in Sweden remained almost unchanged in June compared to the same month last year, data from Statistics Sweden showed Thursday.

The number of unemployed persons in the country amounted to 465,000 in June, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.8 percent.

According to the statistical office, this is the sixth straight month where no statistically significant change for either the number or rate of unemployment can be seen compared to the same month last year.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of unemployed persons was 382 000, equivalent to an unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.

During the month, employment increased by 48,000 annually to 4.8 million. The employment rate was 67.5 percent. The seasonally adjusted employment rate was 65.8 percent.
