Lockheed Martin (LMT) announced the submission of its final proposal to the U.S. Navy to design, build, integrate and test the new Air and Missile Defense Radar or AMDR for the future DDG-51 Flight III class destroyer.
The scalable AMDR S-band radar and radar suite controller will provide significantly increased sensitivity for simultaneous long-range detection and engagement of advanced anti-ship and ballistic missile threats, the company said.
The company's SPY-1 family of radars - with proven anti-air warfare and ballistic missile defense multi-mission capability - is fielded on more than 100 surface combatants worldwide.
