FMC Corp. Q2 Profit Down - Quick Facts

FMC Corp. (FMC: Quote) reported second-quarter net income attributable to stockholders of $104.9 million, or $0.76 per share, versus net income of $107.2 million, or $0.74 per share, in the second quarter of 2011.

The latest-quarter results included charges of $22.0 million after tax, or $0.16 per share, compared to charges of $3.3 million after tax, or $0.03 per share, in the prior-year quarter.

Excluding these items in both periods, adjusted earnings were $0.92 per share in the latest-quarter, an increase of 20 percent versus the prior-year quarter.

Revenues for the quarter were $905.2 million, up 11 percent from $812.2 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.90 per share on revenues of $901.37 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the third quarter of 2012, the company expect adjusted earnings of $0.70 to $0.80 per diluted share, a 9 percent increase above the same period last year at the midpoint of this range. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.82 per share for the third-quarter.

The company said it has raised slightly the lower end of its full year 2012previous outlook and now expect adjusted earnings of $3.42 to $3.52 per share, a 16 percent increase above last year at the midpoint of this range. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $3.49 per share for fiscal 2012.

The company said that the per share financial data reflected the two-for-one split of its common stock completed May 24, 2012.
