FMC Corp. Q2 Profit Down - Quick Facts

FMC Corp. (FMC: Quote) reported second-quarter net income attributable to stockholders of $104.9 million, or $0.76 per share, versus net income of $107.2 million, or $0.74 per share, in the second quarter of 2011.

The latest-quarter results included charges of $22.0 million after tax, or $0.16 per share, compared to charges of $3.3 million after tax, or $0.03 per share, in the prior-year quarter.

Excluding these items in both periods, adjusted earnings were $0.92 per share in the latest-quarter, an increase of 20 percent versus the prior-year quarter.

Revenues for the quarter were $905.2 million, up 11 percent from $812.2 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.90 per share on revenues of $901.37 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the third quarter of 2012, the company expect adjusted earnings of $0.70 to $0.80 per diluted share, a 9 percent increase above the same period last year at the midpoint of this range. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.82 per share for the third-quarter.

The company said it has raised slightly the lower end of its full year 2012previous outlook and now expect adjusted earnings of $3.42 to $3.52 per share, a 16 percent increase above last year at the midpoint of this range. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $3.49 per share for fiscal 2012.

The company said that the per share financial data reflected the two-for-one split of its common stock completed May 24, 2012.

Thailand lowered its full-year growth outlook after weaker domestic demand and exports weighed on economic activity in the first three months of the year. Gross domestic product expanded 5.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2013 compared to an upwardly revised 19.1 percent growth in the fourth quarter of 2012, the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) said Monday. The fifth consecutive monthly increase in the U.K. house prices amid limited supply took average asking prices to a record, a survey by Rightmove showed Monday. House prices hit a record GBP 249,841 in May, as new sellers raised their prices by 2.1 percent from the prior month. Prices were up by the same magniture in April. The Japanese government on Monday upgraded its assessment of the economy for the first time in two months, as a weak yen helped revive the country's exports and factory output. "The Japanese economy is picking up slowly," the Cabinet Office said in its May monthly report. This was an upgrade from previous month's assessment when it said that economy was showing signs of picking up.
