Oil States Int'l Q2 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

Oil States International (OIS: Quote) posted second-quarter net income attributable to the company of $111.23 million or $2.01 per share, compared to $74.24 million or $1.34 per share in the prior year quarter.

Operating income for the quarter was $169.26 million, up from $115.16 million in the previous year period.

Revenues for the quarter rose to $1.09 billion from $820.32 million in the comparable quarter last year.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $1.87 per share on revenue of $1.04 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Stocks have moved modestly higher in early trading on Wednesday, adding to the slim gains posted in the previous session. The major averages have all climbed into positive territory, although buying interest has remained relatively subdued. Myanmar's growth is set to accelerate slightly to 6.75 percent in the fiscal year ending March 2014 led by gas production and investment, the International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday. Bank of England Chief Mervyn King maintained his call for more stimulus for the fourth month and was defeated again by a majority of six members as in previous months who cited faster-than-expected growth and pipeline impact from previous stimulus. At his penultimate meeting, King along with Paul Fisher and David Miles sought an increase in quantitative easing by GBP 25 billion.
