Hugh Jackman has been pegged for a role in "Orders to Kill," in the role of William Pepper, a real-life lawyer, who contends that Martin Luther King, Jr. was not assassinated by James Earl Ray, but by government conspirators irked by King's protest of the Vietnam War.

The film, from director Lee Daniels ("Precious") is based on Pepper's book of the same name, adapted to the screen by Hanna Weg.

"Dramatic new evidence confirming the innocence of James Earl Ray and identifying the actual killers of Martin Luther King, Jr.," reads the teaser for the 1995 book.

The denouement of the film will also center on the 1999 wrongful death suit of Ray, which was filed by the Kings and argued by Pepper.
