Alicia Keys has been confirmed as one of the performers at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. So far, Keys is the only announced performer besides boy band One Direction. Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
Keys will debut a new song at the ceremony, she said in a statement:
"Debuting a new song at the VMAs is definitely special. I debuted 'No One' at the VMAs - it was the first time anyone in the world heard 'No One.'"
"It's the perfect setting. It's the right energy. It's the right vibe. People are so excited about the night of music and hearing different styles that it just goes over really well. I can't wait!"
The 2012 MTV VMAs take place September 6 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, airing live at 8 PM EST. Fans can vote now for their favorite nominees through the network's VMA website.
