Lawyers For Michael Jackson's Doctor Ask Court For Lab Test

Conrad Murray, former doctor to Michael Jackson, has requested that the court allow forensic analysis on a bottle of surgical anesthetic taken from the late singer's bedroom.

Murray's defense team says that the residual liquid in the bottle would determine how much lidocaine was in the sedative mixture, ostensibly proving his claim that it was Jacko who injected himself with the lethal dose while Murray was away.

"If a forensic examination of the residue in Exhibit 30 revealed no lidocaine, it would completely negate [the prosecution expert's] concluding theory . . . leaving only the theory of bolus injection just prior to Jackson's death," attorney Valerie Wass wrote in the petition obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

It's the third time lawyers for Murray have asked the court to test the vial. A judge rejected the previous request in November 2011, shortly after Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Murray is currently serving a four-year sentence and has been suspended from practicing medicine.
