Nicholas Financial Q1 Profit Edges Up

Nicholas Financial Inc. (NICK) Thursday reported a slight increase in profit for the first quarter, due mainly to higher revenues.

The Clearwater, Florida-based company's first-quarter net profit was $5.37 million compared to $5.30 million last year. On a per-share basis, earnings were flat at $0.44.

Total revenues for the quarter grew to $17.28 million from $16.63 million in the prior-year quarter.
