Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps brought home his 20th medal, and 16th gold medal, after defeating the heady Ryan Lochte in the 200m medley. The win also set another Olympic record for Phelps as he became the first male swimmer to win an event at three consecutive games.
"Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't," said Lochte. "But overall, I can't be too disappointed. I am coming home to my country with five Olympic medals."
With two events left to go, Phelps has a chance to add more gold to his treasury when he swims the 100 butterfly final on Friday (August 3) and the 4x100 medley relay on Saturday.
Despite the accolades, Phelps, 27, says that the 2012 Games will be his last as an Olympian.
