StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. (SFG: Quote) said Friday that it has priced a public offering of $250 million of Senior Notes due August 15, 2022.

The Senior Notes will bear an annual interest rate of 5.00%. Interest will be paid semi-annually on February 15 and August 15 of each year, beginning February 15, 2013.

StanCorp plans to use the net proceeds to repay its $250 million of 6.875% 10-year senior notes due October 1, 2012.

China Manufacturing Contraction Deepens In June

China's manufacturing activity contracted at a faster pace in June, reducing the prospects of a promising economic recovery, preliminary results of a survey by Markit Economics and HSBC revealed Thursday. Red Hat Inc., the world's largest seller of Linux software, said Wednesday after the markets closed that its first quarter profit rose 8% from last year, as revenue increased 15% amid strong consumer demand. The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, also came in above analysts' expectations as did its quarterly revenue.
