Chief of Staff of the French Air Force General Jean-Paul Paloméros has been appointed as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.
The North Atlantic Council has approved his nomination by the French President, NATO said in a press release on Monday.
Gen. Paloméros will take up his new responsibilities by September-end at Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia, in the United States.
Gen. Paloméros will be taking over from Air Force General Stéphane Abrial. Throughout his command, which began in 2009, Gen. Abrial contributed actively to the adaptation of the Atlantic Alliance's structures, concepts, resources, training assets and defense planning process. The Council expressed its deep appreciation to Gen. Abrial, on behalf of the governments of the NATO countries.
