Jordin Sparks made a special trip through Detroit earlier this week for the premiere of her upcoming film Sparkle. She appears alongside the late Whitney Houston in the picture and was flanked by The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin at the premiere.
On the red carpet Sparks said while it was "good to be back" in Motor City, it's been hard to adjust to the loss of her mentor, Whitney Houston:
"It comes in waves," Sparks said. "Sometimes I can't believe she's not here."
Aretha also spoke on the loss, saying she is proud of Whitney's last artistic offering:
"I came out because it was Whitney's last performance," said Franklin, who was very close to Houston and her family. I am glad that if it had to be her last performance, it fell in the hands of [producer] Bishop T.D. Jakes."
The film opens nationwide on August 17.
