Hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre has inked a deal to develop a TV pilot for a scripted drama on the FX network.

The rapper has already tackled the tech world with the release of his successful Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and he is now ready to take on the world of television. The one-hour series will be set in Los Angeles and explore the music and crime businesses.

Dre is set to serve as the executive producer for the program, while writer Sidney Quashi will be billed as the creator and executive producer. Daniel Schnider is the executive producer for Dre's Crucial TV, along with co-EP Brad Bertner.

Crucial TV was founded in 2007 with Dre's record label, Aftermath Entertainment, launching 11 years earlier. Dre has been given the credit for discovering several well-known rappers, such as Eminem, 50 Cent and the Game.
