HP Boosts Q3 Non-GAAP EPS View; Charhon Named COO Of HP ES - Quick Facts

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ: Quote) has raised its third-quarter fiscal 2012 non-GAAP earnings per share forecast to around $1.00 per share, from a previous range of $0.94 - $0.97, whereas 26 analysts project third-quarter earnings of $0.97 per share. Also, the company anticipates a non-cash pre-tax charge for the impairment of goodwill within its Services segment of some $8 billion in the third quarter of its fiscal 2012.

Further, the company has appointed Mike Nefkens, currently senior vice president and general manager of HP Enterprise Services or ES -- EMEA, to lead HP ES on an acting basis. John Visentin, who earlier ran HP ES, would leave the company to pursue other interests. In addition, the company has named Jean-Jacques (JJ) Charhon, senior vice president and chief financial officer of HP ES, as the chief operating officer for HP ES.

Nefkens, who would be in charge for driving growth and innovation for HP's applications, business processing and outsourcing services, would report to Meg Whitman, president and chief executive, HP. Before joining Electronic Data Systems, he spent 10 years with Holland Chemical International NV, where he held several executive positions in Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela and the western United States.

Charhon joined HP in 2010 as vice president of Finance for the Personal Systems Group.
