Apple To Axe YouTube App From IOS

Apple To Axe YouTube App From IOS

Apple has confirmed that next edition of software updates for their iPhone and iPad devices will not include a dedicated YouTube app. Users can still stream video from the popular site off of the web and Google, who owns YouTube, is reportedly developing their own YouTube app.

According to Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller the company's license with YouTube has expired, but there is no word on their choice not to renew the license. Analysts have speculated that it is the latest move in the ever present rivalry between Apple and Google.

They broke the news in an official statement saying:

"Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store."
