Lionbridge Technologies Q2 Profit Rises

Lionbridge Technologies Inc. (LIOX: Quote) reported second-quarter net income of $2.5 million or $0.04 per share, up from $1.7 million or $0.03 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter was $11.1 million or $0.18 per share, compared to the adjusted earnings of $4.3 million or $0.07 per share in the prior-year quarter.

On average, five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to breakeven for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues for the quarter grew 5 percent to $119.2 million from $113.2 million in the prior-year quarter. Five analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $114.84 million for the quarter.

Looking ahead, Lionbridge forecasts revenue of $112-115 million for the third quarter. It also expects continued revenue and earnings growth in the fourth quarter.

Analysts currently expect the company to generate revenues of $114.17 million in the third quarter.

In another upbeat sign for the U.S. housing market, the Commerce Department released a report on Thursday showing that new home sales came in well above economist estimates in the month of April. The report showed that new home sales climbed 2.3 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 454,000 in April from the revised March rate of 444,000. Consumer sentiment in the euro area increased for the sixth consecutive month in May to its strongest level since the middle of last year, preliminary data from the European Commission showed Thursday.
