Monster Beverage Corp. (MNST: Quote) Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $109.8 million or $0.59 per share, up from $84.2 million or $0.45 per share last year.
On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.61 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Gross sales for the second quarter increased 28.7 percent to $678.9 million from $527.5 million in the same period last year. Net sales for the three-months ended June 30, 2012 grew to $592.6 million from $462.1 million last year. Analysts estimated sales of $596.12 million for the quarter.
