Amerco (UHAL: Quote) Wednesday reported an increase in profit for the first quarter, driven mainly by higher revenues.

The Reno, Nevada-based company's first-quarter net profit available to common shareholders was $80.57 million or $4.13 per share, compared to $69.24 million or $3.56 per share last year.

Total revenues for the quarter grew to $665.42 million from $642.97 million in the prior-year quarter.
