Atmos Energy Corp. (ATO) Wednesday reported a profit for the third quarter, compared to a loss in the same period last year.
Net income for the quarter was $31.1 million or $0.34 per share, compared to a loss of $0.6 million or $0.01 per share in the prior-year quarter.
On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters epected the company to earn $0.16 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating expenses decreased to $214 million from $232.7 million last year.
Looking ahead to the fiscal year 2012, the company re-affirmed its earnings outlook range of $2.30 to $2.40 per share. Analysts currently expect the comapny to earn $2.27 per share for the quarter.
