Italy's Trade Surplus Rises In June

Italy's foreign trade surplus increased notably in June, data from the statistical office Istat revealed Thursday.

The trade surplus amounted to EUR 2.517 billion in June, up from EUR 1.01 billion in May. The balance resulted in a surplus of EUR 997 million in trade with EU countries and EUR 1.52 billion for non-EU countries.

Exports rose 5.5 percent year-on-year in June, while imports fell 7.1 percent. Compared to the previous month, export decreased 1.4 percent and imports were up 5.3 percent.
