Stuart Swanlund, longtime member of the Marshall Tucker Band, has died at the age of 54. The guitarist, who joined the band in 1985, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, August 4.

"Even with those issues, Stuart's enthusiasm onstage never wavered," declared founding Marshall Tucker Band member Doug Gray. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Stuart's family and those who knew him. We have lost a great friend."

When Swanlund was younger he lived across the street from Gray where he could hear his future bandmates practicing. Throughout his life when he wasn't playing with the Marshall Tucker Band he also played with the Chicago rockers the Tone Generators.

Swanlund is survived by his partner Stacey Schmaren, his son William, three grandchildren and his sister Suzanne.
