There are 17 golds up for grabs on Friday, the 14th day of the ongoing London 2012 Olympics, with men's Swimming 10km Marathon and the women's Hockey final figuring among the day's major crowd pullers.

A huge turnout is expected at the Hyde Park's serpentine course to witness the men's 10km Marathon, with Germany's Thomas Lurz, Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia and Spyridon Gianniotis from Greece among the leading contenders for the gold.

Netherlands will take on Argentina for gold in the women's Hockey at the Olympic Park-Hockey Center, with the Dutch team defending their title and Argentina attempting to add the Olympic gold medal to their world and Champions Trophy crowns. Later in the day, New Zealand and UK will clash for the bronze.

Six gold medals are on offer on the penultimate evening of Athletics in the Olympic Stadium, with women's 1,500m promising to be one of the highlights of the evening. Later, Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba will attempt to complete a famous long-distance double by adding the 5,000m title to the 10,000m gold she has already won at London 2012.

Other medal events in women's athletics on Day 14 of the Games are Hammer Throw final and the 4 x 100m Relay final, which is expected to be a showdown between the U.S. and Jamaica. In the men's 4 x 400m Relay final, the main competition is expected to be between the U.S. and the Bahamas. The men's Pole Vault final as well as women's hammer throw final will also take place at the Olympic Stadium on Friday.

Finals of the men's and women's BMX Cycling competition will take place in the afternoon, while the final of women's 470 medal race will be the highlight of the sailing action at Weymouth and Portland. Men's 470 medal race will also be held on Friday, as lack of wind at Weymouth and Portland ensured there was no sailing on Day 13.

Other medal events of the day include women's Synchronized Swimming Team final, men's 10m Platform Diving, men's 80kg category and women's 67kg division in Taekwondo as well as men's 55kg and 74kg freestyle wrestling.
