Reading International Q2 Profit Down - Quick Facts

Reading International Inc. (RDI: Quote) reported a second-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders of $239,000 compared to a net income of $17.4 million in the year ago quarter, driven primarily by the one-time tax provision adjustment of $14.4 million and the $1.7 million sale of our Elsternwick Cinema in the 2011 Quarter. On a per share basis, net income for the quarter decreased to $0.01 from $0.76 last year.

Revenue from operations for the quarter decreased to $63.1 million from $67.2 million in the year ago quarter.

NASA's Cassini spacecraft, now exploring Saturn, will take a picture of Earth from a distance of hundreds of millions of miles on July 19. NASA is inviting the public to help acknowledge the historic interplanetary portrait as it is being taken. However, the company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, came in above analysts' expectations and its quarterly revenue was in line with analysts' forecast.
