Joe Simpson, father and manager of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving charges. Simpson was driving through the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles on August 4 when he was pulled over by the LAPD for driving erratically.
According to TMZ.com, the 54-year-old was pulled over at around 10 p.m. before he was handcuffed and taken into custody. He spent the night in prison and was released the next morning at around 9:40 a.m. without having to post bail.
Simpson, a former minister, has no prior arrests and will therefore only face fines if the charges are pressed against him. His case is currently being processed by the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Joe also made headlines earlier this year when he gushed about his new granddaughter, Jessica's baby girl, Maxwell Drew.
