Rihanna has been axed as the face of skin care brand Nivea. The Bajan beauty signed a lucrative deal with the German brand in 2011 and had appeared in several ads for the company, who also used her track "California King Bed" in their marketing.
The news came via Stefan Heidenreich, who is the CEO of Nivea's new parent company Beiersdorf. He told the German newspaper Welt that it has proven impossible to reconcile Rihanna's bad girl image with the brand's family friendly message:
"I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability."
In addition to appearing in several television ads, Riri also stripped down for a nude shoot to commemorate Nivea's 100th anniversary.
