Sheryl Crow's musical adaptation of Barry Levinson's film Diner will premiere on Broadway instead of at San Francisco's Curran Theatre as was originally planned for October.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the originally scheduled San Francisco dates, October 23 to November 18, now will be used to further develop the project with a production workshop in New York.

The musical will then open on Broadway on April 10, 2013 at a yet-to-be determined theater. Reports indicate that it is still possible that Diner may premiere in San Francisco sometime in early 2013 ahead of the Broadway opening.

Diner the film came out in 1982 and took place in the 1950s, centering around old school friends as they transition into their adult world. The original cast included Kevin Bacon, Micky Rourke, and Steve Guttenberg.

Kathleen Marshall is directing and choreographing the musical adaptation, which will feature scenic design by Derek McLane, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Scott Lehrer, and orchestrations and music direction by Mitchell Froom.
