The Beach Boys musical, Surf: The Musical, will close on August 15, just six weeks after its debut in Las Vegas.
Despite the show having a soundtrack full of classic Beach Boy tunes and a big name director, the musical has been pulled from having a longer run by Planet Hollywood.
The musical follows a failed young musician who comes back to his beachside hometown and discovers his ex-girlfriend is with a rock star.
Rock of Ages director Kristin Hanggi was the one who kicked off the production, which included music from the Beach Boys, although the band had never endorsed the show.
For each show there was no more than 200 tickets sold, while one show sold less than 50 tickets with the theater seating 1,500 people.
