French Current Account Deficit Widens In June

French current account deficit widened in June after falling marginally in May, data from Bank of France showed Monday.

The current account deficit narrowed to EUR 4.9 billion in June from a EUR 4 billion shortfall recorded in May.

The deficit on goods account rose to EUR 6.3 billion in June from EUR 5.7 billion in May. Service account showed a surplus of EUR 1.5 billion, slightly down from EUR 1.9 billion in the previous month.

The balance on income account was in a surplus of EUR 2.9 billion, unchanged from the preceding month. The net outflow of current transfers also remained steady at EUR 3 billion.
