Eurozone July Inflation Stable At 2.4%

Eurozone annual inflation remained stable at 2.4 percent in July, final data from Eurostat showed Thursday. The rate also matched flash estimate. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were down 0.5 percent in July.

The central bank aims to retain inflation rates below, but close to, 2 percent over the medium term.

Core inflation that excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, accelerated to 1.7 percent annually from 1.6 percent a month ago.

Energy prices climbed 6.1 percent, and food prices gained 2.5 percent. Clothing and housing cost moved up 3.1 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
