Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly suffered an ankle injury while filming the upcoming edition of the "Iron Man" franchise. Thus far there are no details on the specifics of the injury, but Marvel Entertainment says it occurred while he was performing a stunt.
"Robert Downey Jr sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates," reps for the company confirmed in an official statement.
Downey will once again appear as superhero/billionaire Tony Stark in the film, which will co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce and Sir Ben Kingsley.
He has previously spoken on the physical nature of the "Iron Man" films, saying:
"I feel like I don't know where you go after Iron Man 3. Leave it all on the field, you know?" he said to ew.com.
