Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction is pitching a live music series to television networks, reports Entertainment Weekly. The Lollapalooza organizer reportedly envisions an alternative program to compete with the slew of amateur vs. pop star judge-filled shows filling the primetime airwaves.
Instead of featuring singing competitions and celebrity judges, Farrell reportedly wants to create a showcase for established touring acts to come through and perform on for a large television audience.
What Farrell has in mind sounds a bit like American Bandstand or the King Flour Biscuit Hour, but will probably have more of an alternative-indie edge knowing Farrell.
No word on which network might be interested, if any, or what the show would be called, but one has to think that Farrell might be able to pull this off considering what he has done with the Lollapalooza music festival.
