Capacity utilization in the Swedish industrial sector remained unchanged in the second quarter, data released by Statistics Sweden showed Friday.
The seasonally adjusted capacity utilization rate was 88.2 percent in the second quarter, unchanged from the preceding three-month period. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the figure was 87.6 percent.
Capacity utilization in the mining and quarrying industry decreased to 89.6 percent in the second quarter from 94.6 percent in the previous quarter, while capacity utilization in the manufacturing industry edged up by 0.1 percentage point to 88.2 percent.
Industry sub-sectors showed mixed development during the quarter compared to the first quarter. The capacity utilization rate within the motor vehicle industry increased by 1.9 percentage points to 91.5 percent, while in the machinery industry it decreased by 1.1 percentage points to 89.7.
Compared to the second quarter of 2011, the working-day adjusted capacity utilization rate decreased by 0.3 percentage point to 88.8 percent, data showed.
