Italy's Current Account Logs Surplus In June

Italy's current account balance showed a surplus of EUR 1.03 billion in June compared to a shortfall of EUR 2.67 billion a year ago, Bank of Italy said Friday.

The goods account showed a surplus of EUR 2.8 billion in June after registering EUR 996 million deficit last year. The services account balance was in EUR 525 million surplus.

At the same time, the deficit in current transfers narrowed to EUR 859 million from EUR 1.16 billion in the prior year. On the other hand, the deficit in income widened to EUR 1.44 billion from EUR 517 million.
