Blue Oyster Cult is prepping the release of a 17-disc boxset, The Columbia Album Collections, distributed on the Sony Legacy label October 30.
The collection features the band's first 11 studio albums, from the 1972 debut up to 1988's Imaginos, along with three live albums, two audio discs of rarities and a "mythic" live DVD from 1978.
The box also includes a download code good for four live concert broadcasts as well as a forty page booklet filled with photos and liner notes from celebrated music writer and guitarist Lenny Kaye.
The release of the collection, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the psych-rockers, is anticipated by a Best Buy Times Square performance featuring special guests and "other surprises" on October 28, according to PR Newswire.
