The 31st annual George Strait Team Roping Classic, an open team rodeo event, is slated for March 8-9, 2013 at the San Antonio Rose Palace in San Antonio, Texas.
The event is the largest open roping event in America with more than $700,000 in cash and prizes for the taking. Last year 545 ropers showed up for the contest.
Last year's winners, Clay Tryan and Patrick Smith, won custom-painted Chevrolet Silverado Duallies, as well as horse trailers, saddles, rope bags and more than $200,000 in cash.
Tickets for the 2013 GSTRC are $20. Online sales open to the general public at 8:00 AM EST, Wednesday, October 3, after which any remaining tickets can be ordered by phone beginning Wednesday, October 10 at 9:00 AM by calling (210) 698-0791.
Strait, a cowboy himself, started the event with his brother Buddy in 1982.
