Mentor Graphics Corp. (MENT: Quote) said Friday it had filed another patent infringement suit against EVE in the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Oregon.

The suit alleges that EVE products violate Mentor Graphics' patent rights under United States Patent No. 6,947,882, entitled "Regionally Time Multiplexed System" issued September 20, 2005, and seeks to recover damages and to bar the manufacture and sale of the infringing products.

"As we continue to learn more about EVE's products, and discover infringement of our intellectual property," said Tom Evans, corporate intellectual property counsel for Mentor Graphics, "we will continue to aggressively protect that intellectual property."

While the IRS targeting scandal has taken center stage on Capitol Hill on Friday, the results of a new Gallup poll showed that the American public's interest in the story is comparatively low based on historical measures. The poll showed that 54 percent of Americans are following the news that the IRS targeted conservative groups for greater scrutiny "very" or "somewhat" closely.
