Karen O, Robert Smith Contribute To Frankenweenie Soundtrack

Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Robert Smith of the Cure have written new tracks to add to the soundtrack of Frankenweenie. The movie is Tim Burton's 3D remake of his 1984 film of the same name.

O kicks of the disc with the song "Strange Love," while Smith contributes the song "Witchcraft" to the album.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Karen said the track was inspired by "the same era of B-movie fright film references sprinkled throughout the film. I went in the direction of exotica and calypso stylistically because it's quirky, good vibes music of that era, and when you throw in a Theremin solo, it's a marriage made in heaven."

"I remember Beetlejuice introducing me to the genius of Harry Belafonte's calypso record, so I wanted to give a nod to that, too," she added.

The Frankenweenie OST is due September 25.
